Mbali is 21 years old and is currently doing her final year of her BA in Sociology and History at the University of the Witwatersrand. Her mental health journey began in her grade 11 year where the culmination of family issues, suppressed childhood trauma and mounting performance pressure at school came to a head. She struggled with severe anxiety and depression throughout the beginning of first year which led to a mental breakdown at the end of 2018. After seeking professional support and with the support of her family and friends, she was able to begin her healing journey and found healthy and sustainable methods and resources to maintain a positive mental state. Mbali’s interests and passions include social justice and transformation and she has a deep commitment to making the world around her a happier and safer space. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, baking and exploring new places and experiences. She began Mindful(l) with the goal of creating a safe space and a healthy support community for the youth so that the journey of mental health is something that no one has to experience alone.
